Fresh Aire

I attended a workshop hosted by Alec who works a print company named 'Fresh Aire'. During the session, I voiced my ideas for how I wished to fabricate my work, bringing my digital portfolio into a physical setting. I mentioned how I was wanting to scale one print to the height of myself (5ft 2in), Alec then introduced mw to a vinyl print Fresh Aire had previously produced for Yan Wang Preston (image on far right). He mentioned how vinyl is self-adhesive. Meaning it can me readjusted and placed upon any surface. These properties would allow me produce a life size print whereby I can change the placement of it on the wall at any given time if I was unsure.

Vinyl also has a matt finish, meaning there will be no visual interference typically caused by the casting of a light source. This is an important fabrication consideration, as the background of my image is a solid black. If this was to be framed, taking into account the dimensions of the print (104 x 157cm), it would create an unpleasant viewing experience.

Full and semi gloss paper stocks would have also created a distracting glare, and so my decision was to avoid using them for the work I was making.
