Amak Mahmoodian
Amak Mahmoodian hosted a teams discussion with us about her portfolio of work. Her body of work titled 'Gereh' meaning 'Knot' in Iran, captures the varying ways Iranian women of all ages tie the knots of their hijabs. Mahmoodian expressed how her and many Persian women from Iran see their hijabs as an decorative extension of themselves, communicating their characteristics through the form of fabrics.
She mentioned in her talk, that after photographing the knots, she wanted to see, with immediate effect, how they would restyle their gerehs. This produced an imaginative and expressive response.
