Sophia Iggulden, a photographer and friend of mine, recently curated an exhibition alongside 10 of her peers. Collectively, the exhibition was titled 'Wanderland', whereby the theme of 'Homeland' was explored.
The exhibition took place in Temporary Contemporary Unit 15, Huddersfield Piazza Centre between the 28th - 30th April. Within the unit, were three divisions, where each space visualised variations of the idea of homeland to oneself.
Sophia's body of work was situated in a room of her own. Decorating the four walls, were six A0 prints consisting of 16:9 and square ratios.
This cinematic fabrication of her prints strengthened the dream-like visuals of what is otherwise her reflection of shared trauma experienced as a child, made now at twenty-two years of age.
I witnessed her involvement and crafting of the place she was provided with. A lot of time and care was put into the revival of the space as well as the mounting of the prints. It was very exciting to see the process of bringing her vision to life.
